Growing up on a family veal farm I was put to work doing chores at a young age. I was given the opportunity to play sports but was expected to complete my chores and homework as well. At 16 years old I got a job at a relative’s dairy farm and worked there through my senior year. It was there I developed an interest in not only the livestock but all the mechanical equipment involved in making the daily routines possible.
After graduating high school in 1997, I went to work for a Mechanical Contractor working in commercial and industrial plumbing, heating, and process equipment installations. Here I developed skills in system layout, proper plumbing, and heating system set up for various applications, and welding pipe and structural using all welding processes. I became very disciplined in my work and always wanted my jobs to finish in a neat manner. To this day I love to walk into a well laid out mechanical room and admire the workmanship that goes into making it look this way.
In 2002, I was given the opportunity to go to work for Champlain Dairy Service Inc. The owner was the father of a good friend of mine. After looking into what the scope of work would be, I decided to give it a shot. It did not take long for me to realize I had found my career. I was able to work on all the equipment, layout the systems, and do it in an agricultural environment that I have always loved. In mid-2019 my now wife Jenna joined our team as Office Manager and Herd Management Systems Support. She comes from a deep background in dairy and has a wealth of knowledge in dairy operations. As a matter of fact, she is probably one of the best “cow people’ I know.
In late 2019, I started the process of buying the business. With many delays due to COVID, we closed the deal in November of 2020. We have built a very diverse team over the years and I am fortunate to have my former co-workers and a few new ones as valued employees. Together we are committed to providing the best equipment and support to all of our hard-working customers.
